Panels, Panels, Panels

I’m getting ready for a new body of work and the start of another online workshop with Nicholas Wilton and the Art2Life Community. The 5"x7" gray panels will hold the mixed media collages that I've started. I'll attach the painted and collaged papers to the panel and carry on with more paint and drawing. The sides will remain gray.

I’ve committed to creating 100 of these small paintings and will post their evolution over the months to come. The process of making is as important to me as the finished result and this year I’m paying deep attention to the meaning of my work – how I feel when I make particular marks, how color speaks to me, what shapes are like old shoes, what I can do that I’ve never done before.

The thin painted panels on the left are paintings started in last year’s workshop. A few are almost finished. Finishing is one of my intentions for this year. Digging deeper into the soul of my art, myself, completing my expression and moving it into the world through words, ideas, and paintings.

It starts with wood and paint and the promise of something that has never been.
